Effective Date: October 31, 2026
CourtBook ("we," "our," or "the app") is a basketball stat tracking application for coaches, available at courtbook.net and as an app on Google Play. This policy explains what information CourtBook collects, how it's used, who it's shared with, and how to delete it.
Team and game data on your device: Team names, rosters (player names, jersey numbers and any details you add), game stats, shot locations, notes, plays you draw in the Play Creator, and settings are stored on your device in your browser's local storage. If you sign in with Google, CourtBook keeps each Google account's data separate on the device. We do not have a server database of your teams, stats or plays.
Google account information: If you sign in with Google, CourtBook receives your email address, your name, and a temporary access token. We use your email address to check whether you have a Pro subscription and to keep your data separate from other coaches on the same device. We never see your Google password.
Google Drive (cloud sync): If you use cloud sync, your CourtBook data is saved to files named courtbook_sync.json (teams and stats) and courtbook_plays.json (Play Creator plays) in your own Google Drive. CourtBook uses Google's limited drive.file permission, which only allows access to files CourtBook created. We cannot see or change any other files in your Drive, and these files are stored in your Drive account, not on our servers.
Payments: CourtBook Pro purchases on courtbook.net are processed by Stripe. Stripe receives your email address and payment details. We never receive or store your full card number. When you open the app, we ask Stripe whether the email address you signed in with has an active subscription.
Live Share: If you start a Live Share session so other devices can follow or enter stats for a game, the team name, opponent, the roster for that game (player names and jersey numbers) and the stats entered are sent to a Google Firebase database so the connected devices can see them. This data is deleted when the coach ends the session. If a session is never ended, its data can stay in the database until it's removed. Email us and we'll delete it.
Contact and deletion requests: If you contact us or request deletion through our website, your name, email address and message are sent to us by email through our email provider, Resend.
Analytics: Our website and app use Google Analytics and Vercel Web Analytics to understand how CourtBook is used, for example which pages are visited, general device and browser information, and approximate location based on IP address. We do not send your name, email address, rosters or stats to these services. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar identifiers. You can limit this with your browser's privacy settings or Google's opt-out tools.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
We share information only with the service providers needed to run CourtBook:
We may also disclose information if required by law.
Data on your device stays until you delete it in the app or clear your browser data. Your Google Drive files stay until you delete them in the app or in Google Drive. Live Share data is deleted when the coach ends the session (or when we remove an abandoned session on request). Stripe keeps billing and transaction records for as long as tax and accounting laws require. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to help you.
In the app, go to More → Delete My Data (called Manage on older versions) and tap Delete my CourtBook data. This deletes your teams, games, plays and settings on that device, deletes your CourtBook files from your Google Drive, and removes CourtBook's access to your Google account. You can also request deletion on our account deletion page or by emailing support@courtbook.net. Deleting your data does not cancel a Pro subscription. Cancel it first if you don't want to be billed again.
You can also remove CourtBook's access to your Google account at any time in your Google Account's security settings.
Connections to CourtBook and our service providers are encrypted (HTTPS). Because your teams and stats live on your device and in your own Google Drive, keep your device and Google account secure. CourtBook also offers an optional PIN lock under More.
CourtBook is made for coaches, who are adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Coaches may enter their players' names and jersey numbers. That information stays on the coach's device and in the coach's own Google Drive, except during Live Share sessions as described above, and is never used for advertising.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
